Highway motel.

Melikana is found on kilometre 84.5 on the highway D1 from Brno to Prague. The build respects the necessary capacity and needs of similar type of building at a busy highway, as well as local customs and surrounding nature. The building is situated across a gently sloping land. Its plan is a simple rectangle; it has one partly recessed storey, two storeys above the ground and a habitable attic. The compact volume of the house with a pitched roof featuring a regular raster of dormers was selected with respect to the local weather conditions. Materials respect local building traditions, economic aspects and the time when the motel was built – roofing, brick structure as well as plastic windows.
